The recent Krisflyer miles devaluation was a downer for all miles enthusiasts because it meant that the ‘goal post’ was shifted much further. Click here for the new SQ redemption chart, effective as of 24th January 2019.
However, SIA hinted that a never before deal would come out in February for travel in March, with Spontaneous Escapes being made permanent from then on. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE people, so here’s the link: Krisflyer’s Spontaneous Escapes March .
+/- 50% OFF Australian destinations and other major destinations such as to China and various parts of South East Asia is certainly huge and it could be a long time before we see another bargain like this. SIA’s official website hasn’t been really clear with this so it took some rummaging around to find the details. I only found out that this deal is about “paying economy redemption rates for business class travel” from one of my favourite blogs, only after I booked my flight.
I’ve snagged a round trip to Sydney for two at an epic 4 x 28,000 miles (one way). This represents a 55% discount off the new redemption rate of 62,000 one way (old is 58,000 one way).
