Krisflyer recently sent me an email saying, “Dear Mr Chiam, Experiencing SilkAir’s Business Class has never been easier”. They didn’t even market their uber cheap economy class flights to me. Maybe they targetted me because of my previous First Class flight and upcoming business class flight.
This is one opportunity you should absolutely jump on if you’re already in the miles game, and have the time to travel from the 1 July to 31 October. 50% off miles is not easy to come by and now that 15% off online redemption is permanently gone, 50% off is a steal!
This was sent to me via email. 17,500 miles return trip to bali on a 2h 35mins flight x 2 is definitely worth the miles. You could even go to Maldives for 35,000 miles (return). However, SilkAir’s actual business class is no where close to SIA’s business class in terms of its hard product. Click here for a really good pictorial review on SilkAir’s Business class by one of my favourite websites.
Take note that in order to get the discount, you have to book it ONE WAY back and forth instead of booking a return flight.
So if the hard product isn’t spectacular, why would anyone want to utilise miles albeit it being cheap? If you’ve read my recent post SIA Suites Trip Report , I mentioned that the whole process itself is worth the miles, especially if it’s a short flight. Every flight (short, medium, and long haul) will have the same check in process of between 2 to 3 hours.
- You’ll be in a dedicated business class/PPS club member check in queue.
- You get access to the Krisflyer Silver or Gold lounge – Buffet selection, Free flow drinks including champagne, Shower, Meeting room, Nursing room, Free Wifi: CHECKED!
- Priority queue when boarding the plane – This means that you don’t have to hassle with the crowd. I’ve never understood why everyone’s so desperate to get into the plane especially for those seated at the front on the plane. It’s not like economy is uber comfortable. Maybe they’re afraid of the plane flying off without them.
Here’s a screenshot of the business class destinations as well as the miles required that can be found on SIA’s website:
In Singaporean lingo: Don’t say i no share 😉 . Stay tuned for updates on great deals!
